IB experiences at YIS
“In my opinion, the IB was a tough but rewarding experience. On top of all the academic work required, you had to engage in activities outside of regular classes such as CAS and the group 4 project. However, if you are able to meet all deadlines and stay on top of your work, you have a good shot at doing well on the external exams. Listen to your teacher and make sure you take their advice.”
Eliott Garbolino
Class of 2024“The IB program taught me valuable lessons I will carry into college and beyond. It not only sharpened my research abilities and critical thinking skills, but also deepened my understanding of myself, constantly pushing me to challenge and refine my own ways of thinking. While the heavy workload seemed daunting initially, effective study strategies made it more manageable. To my juniors: embrace the challenge, the rewards are worth the effort”

Class of 2024“Starting IB was intimidating, but thanks to the supportive faculty at YIS, it’s been an enriching journey. They’ve guided me through challenges, making the experience less stressful and enjoyable! To future IB students, embrace IB open-mindedly. It may be daunting, but manageable if you leverage your resources. Your teachers are always willing to help, so be a communicator and inquirer, and you will be ready to succeed in this rigorous program.”

Class of 2024“I must admit that the IB program is definitely challenging; however, the knowledge and soft skills we acquire through CAS projects, classes, and TOK make it worth it. I’m grateful for the supportive community at YIS for making the constant deadlines and heavy workload more manageable. To my juniors: ask for help instead of trying to figure things out yourself. It’ll save you a lot of stress. Good luck! I’m sure you will do great.”
